Upcoming StarCraft 2:HotS Patch Adds Color Blind Mode and New Spectating Features

IRVINE, Calif. July 30 - Blizzard continues to foster the growth of StarCraft 2's eSport scene with its 2.0.10 update, which comes this week. The patch will add a color blind setting as well as additional eSports features.

Colors will be adjusted to better represent player colors for those with color vision deficiency. This will be done by giving alternate colors to better distinguish units and buildings via the minimap. The minimap terrain will also be darkened to create a more prominent visual contrast between player units and terrain.

Spectating advancements feature two new observer UIs. The first is Split 1v1 mode, a more "graphic-intensive interface" that "reorganizes player names, supply counts, and resources across the top portion of the screen". The second is Streamlined, which is a "lightweight interface" that displayes resource counts in the top-right corner of the UI. A"Units Lost" overlay has been added to only Split 1v1 and Streamlined modes. Additionally new zoom levels will be added so that observers can see a larger space, and those watching replays will be able to skip to any point in a recording by dragging the slider.
