GameStop Halts Xbox One Preorders, Sales Are "Through the Roof"

REDMOND, Wa. July 23 - Demand for the Xbox One is "through the roof" at video game retailer, GameStop, so much so that the company had to halt preorders for Microsoft's next-gen console, according to Xbox chief of staff Aaron Greenberg, as reported by Gamespot.

"Demand was through the roof, so preorders stopped for now," Greenberg said on Twitter. "Get on the GameStop first to know list for preorder updates."

The retailer had earlier annouced that PS4 sales have also been high and has also stopped accepting preorders for Sony's next-gen console.

According to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, next-gen preorder sales numbers double that of this generation's.

The Xbox One will launch in November of this year with the PS4 promised this holiday season.
