Microsoft To Support Indie Self-Publishing With Xbox One

REDMOND, Wa. July 24 - Microsoft continues to revert on its unpopular Xbox One policies, further exemplifying the Xbox One-Eighty joke appellation. The company is reversing its course on its publishing requirements, Game Informer sources say. The change will allow indie studios to access digital distribution without a publishing partner, much like the policy Steam and Sony practices.

If sources prove correct, developers will be able to set their own release dates and pricing. Additionally, Microsoft will be overhauling its certification process. The company will use a model akin to iTunes and is targeting a 14-day turnaround for an approvals. Rather than extensive code checking, the company will be looking for terms of service violations and significant bugs.
