Activision to Back Wii U, Confirms Six Titles for Nintendo's Console

SANTA MONICA, Calif. July 25 - Turns out Wii U isn't just being left in the dust by big American publishers. Call of Duty franchise publisher, Activision has pledged support for Nintendo's less than exuberantly accepted console and will be launching six new games on the system, including Call of Duty: Ghosts.

The other five titles are: SWAP Force, Angry Birds Trilogy, Angry Birds Star Wars, SpongeBob SquarePants: Plankton's Robotic Revenge and Wipeout Create & Crash.

Wii U's port of Ghosts will utilize the console's GamePad, although no details were provided on how that may work. Even the launch date for Wii U's Ghosts will be the same as current-gens', November 5.
"As we have said before, we're committed to doing everything we can to support Wii U, which is why we're excited to be bringing some of the most popular entertainment franchises in the world to the platform this year," Activision CEO Eric Hrishberg commented.

"The Call of Duty franchise continues to be one of the most powerful forces in gaming and Skylanders continues to enchant new fans around the world. Our studios have been hard at work creating brand new immersive experiences perfectly suited to the Wii U platform and our fall lineup has something for everyone," he added.

Activision's California-based rival EA has been skeptical about releasing titles on Wii U, already confirming that FIFA 14 will not make an appearance on the system due to "disappointing" sales of FIFA 13 on the console. EA did not completely dismiss the idea of releasing a game on Wii U however, as Frank Gibeau stated that the firm will give full support for Wii U when it "becomes a viable platform".

Nintendo hopes to push their console sales with the release of a plethora of first-party titles this holiday season, including the highly anticipated next iteration of Super Smash Bros.
