LOS ANGELES, Calif. July 1 - Self-proclaimed "gayest game ever made", My Ex-Boyfriend the Space Tyrant, doesn't seek to exclude straight gamers, developer Luke Miller told Polygon in an interview via email. His goal rather, is to help fill a vacancy prevalent in gay themed games.
"Space Tyrant is diverse and inclusive, but it never really occurred to me to make it straight friendly. It's not about exclusion, it's about expanding the types of stories told in games, which can only lead to more interesting games for us all."
Miller lamented the lack of gay characters present in the sci-fi during his adolescence. "Growing up there were no gay characters in any of the science fiction I loved," Miller said. "So I decided to have some fun and make some gay science fiction myself."
Miller also revealed that a sequel is on the way for the gay-themed, point and click, puzzle, adventure title. "My Ex-Boyfriend the Space Tyrant really opened my mind up to what a gay game could be like," the developer said. "I'm plotting a second one as we speak and it's even gayer."
