Much like E3, Sony and Microsoft will be showcasing their next-gen consoles on the same day. A Sony insider told CVG that Sony is "prepared to do whatever it takes" to ensure PS4's success in Europe. Microsoft has also claimed to make sure its presence is felt in the region as well.
Although the Xbox One release date is confirmed in November, Sony has yet to reveal when they will be releasing their next-gen console. As Gamescom is a large event and the holidays are right around the corner, I highly suspect that the release date will be confirmed at the Germany-based event.
