Bethesda to Skip Wii U At Least in the Near Future

ROCKVILLE, Md. August 7 - None of Bethesda's current in-production titles will be released on the Wii U, VP of PR and marketing Pete Hines told Joystiq during QuakeCon and the publisher doesn't have any plans in the near future to give Nintendo's latest console any loving.

The reason for the embargo is "largely a hardware thing", Hines explained. The publisher's mantra is to "make the games that we want to make, on whatever platforms will support them as developed". As an example Hines pointed to the publisher's upcoming MMO Elder Scrolls Online, which would have released on Xbox 360 if it were not for the aging console's hardware limitations.

Any relationship that will form between Bethesda and Nintendo in the future "remains to be seen".
